- Coffee not dispensing into portafilter.
Example of portafilter hooks requiring adjustment!
Resolution:
Adjust portafilter hooks!
Tools:
- Flathead Screwdriver
- Portafilter
Step 1: Identify Portafilter Hooks & Adjustment Screws
- Turn OFF grinder.
- Switch is located on the lower back of the grinder.
- Using a flathead screwdriver:
- Slightly loosen adjustment screws.
Step 2: Adjust Portafilter Hooks
- While holding a portafilter in one hand...
- Insert portafilter and slide hook UP with the other hand.
- Slide hook up just enough so it is close, but does not firmly press, against the portafilter.
Tech Tip! Image above shows one hand holding the portafilter while using a thumb and forefinger to slide hooks UP. The hook should not 'grip' the portafilter. Yet should be easy to insert and retract without much effort.
If necessary, ask a buddy to help tighten the screws while holding the portafilter and hook in place!
- Tighten adjustment screws.
- Don't forget to tighten both sides!
Step 3: Test All Portafilters & Verify Functionality
- Portafilters should not significantly differ from each other but to be certain. Test each one!
Example of portafilter properly resting on the grinder hooks!
- Repeat Step 2 if a particular portafilter is a little too snug.
- Turn ON grinder.
- If issues persist or an adjustment screw is missing.
